Frequently asked questions

How long does the 3D photo session take?

The 3D photography process itself takes only about three seconds of posing at any location with a Twinstant scanner. If you get 3D photographed using a Twindom Mobile system, however, posing will take about three minutes.

What's the turnaround time?

About one to two weeks, depending on the volume of Twins we are producing at our facility when you place your order.

Can I send in a photo of me instead of getting 3D-photographed in person?

We wish, but unfortunately not at this time. In order to give you the best quality 3D print, we do need to capture your 3D photo in person.

What are the models made of?

Finely powdered plaster and glue. They feel similar to a light rock. We also add a wax paper base to our models upon request so they are safe to use with food if you’d like to put them on a cake, for instance.

What does each model weigh?

Between 2 and 9 ounces, depending on which size Twin you choose.

How fragile are the models?

Similar to a wine glass or a teacup, you can handle the models without breaking them, but we wouldn’t recommend dropping them on the ground or allowing young children to play with them.

Very thin features (fingers, fine folds of fabric) should be handled with extreme care and can break in your hand if you try and pick the model up by them. The rest of the model is fairly robust, barring a drop on a hard floor. If this should occur, the model can easily be glued back together with super glue.

Twins are not waterproof. If you get water on them, it can cause the colors to bleed and can weaken the model.

Can I bring in my pet or young child to get 3D photographed?

We always welcome children and pets, but ask that you be aware that they will need to hold relatively still for about three minutes at any location with a Twindom Mobile system, and a few seconds at any location with a Twinstant system.

Where are you located?

Our headquarters is in Emeryville, CA. That said, we currently have scanners all over the world!

How do I view my 3D photo?

Once you have completed your 3D photo session, you should be able to log in to your Twindom account on our website by clicking the “Login” button to the far right on the navigation bar at the top of the screen. From there, just enter your email and the last four digits of the phone number you used when getting 3D photographed, and you should be able to see your 3D photos, share them on social media, and re-order models from any previous 3D photo sessions.

What do I do if I can’t log in to view my 3D photo?

If you’re having trouble logging in to your account, send a message to help@twindom.com and we’ll get back to you before the end of the following business day with a solution.

How do I re-order a model?

Once you’ve logged into your account, simply click the “Order a Miniature” button beneath the spinning model of your choice, and proceed through the online checkout process!

I think this is ridiculously cool and want to quit my current job to join the Twindom Team. How can I do this?

Wow! We’re flattered and delighted. Please send an email to careers@twindom.com with your resume and a brief description of yourself and how you’d like to contribute to the team.
