Every order comes with a touchup. 3D artists will fix any mesh (geometry) problems in a model and adjust or paint the texture (color) as needed. To add more mesh detail, add HD to make those details pop.
Each touch up has a different set of tasks that an artist is responsible for. As a result, we have two levels of artists that are able to do touch ups for Twindom (Basic and HD). Basic artists can only handle orders or items that are placed with the BASIC touch up. HD artists can be assigned to any of the touch ups; their responsibilities will vary depending on the type of touch up that they are assigned to and the specific requests made in the touch up comment field.
Please read below to learn more about each type of touch up.
Placing Orders
Partners and customers can only submit orders with either:
BASIC Touchup
Cost: Included in the cost of a print.
Standard Lead Time: 7-15 business days before shipping.
HD Touchup
Cost: $30 for the first person and $15 for everyone after that.
Standard Lead time: 9-19 business days before shipping.
BASIC Touchups
These are the standard touch ups that come free of charge. This level of touch-up is considered to be “standard” and does not require review/action before being sent to a printer, and for that reason, is the fastest artistry option.BASIC Artist Responsibilities
What are the artists responsible for?
- Lighten nostrils (dark nostrils cause black spots on noses).
- Color/paint over top of head (where white/gray distortion may be).
- Lighten dark corners of mouth and any open mouth areas that have turned black.
- Remove all shadowing by painting under chin, arms, and legs where possible.
- Make clothing color even if solid color,e.g. no blotchiness.
- Smooth edges of eyes/other facial features if they are jagged.
- Paint over stray streaks of color that are mis-projection.
- Ensure hair texture matches photo set and is not mis-projected.
- Remove minor webbing between arms and legs.
- Smooth model where bumpiness occurs.
- Ensure feet have decent geometry and are thick enough to be printable.
- Thicken any props in the scan to be printable.
- Fix any minor mesh defects by smoothing them.
- Fix shape of head if head is misshapen due to bump at top.
Extended Repair Touch ups
These can only be added by production for BASIC orders when it is absolutely necessary. With this new tier, HD-level artists will now be able to make a limited number of fixes and then allow the touch up to continue as a standard touch up.
Right now, “Extended Repair” touch ups are set at a $5 flat rate. An “Extended Repair” touch-up will trigger a review step after the artist has completed work, during which you will be able to review for completeness and “approve” the model for printing or “re-work” the model and request revisions.
Extended Repair Artist Responsibilities

HD Touch ups
Make your prints pop by having artists add additional geometry detail to the print. “Feel the results.” An “HD” touch-up will trigger a review step after the artist has completed work, during which you will be able to review for completeness and “approve” the model for printing or “re-work” the model and request revisions.HD Artist Responsibilities
